Chapter 7-9 Reflection
Chapter 7: Integrating Science and Engineering
Teaching science involves aligning your lessons with next-generation science standards. Science/engineering and language arts can all be incorporated during lessons. You can seek connections with language arts to science lessons. Science/engineering can be incorporated into mathematics. Based on the standards of both math and language arts you can use both in your science lesson and make the lesson even more intriguing.
Science/engineering can also be incorporated into social studies lesson, art and music and health and physical education. Teaching your students that science can be incorporated into all subjects can change their perception of science. Science becomes more interesting when it can be used in many different subjects and lessons.
Chapter 8: Using Technology to Enhance Science Learning
Technology is every where today. Rather than viewing technology as a negative, us future teachers should accept and incorporate technology into our daily instruction. By doing so children are provided with further research, communication, and information outside the classroom. In addition, students gain different insights from around the world, and it ultimately provides a mean of deeper understanding.
Chapter 9: Adapting the Science Curriculum
Educators must accommodate all students and their learning needs. From directions in both English and Spanish to parent communication. It is imperative to meet the needs of all students, be adaptive and willing to be flexible. Furthermore, accommodations and modifications will need to be made for students depending on their specific needs. All students deserves the same opportunity to learn and grow.
This is a comment to your science joke... I have one for you! Two hydrogen atoms walk into a bar. One says, "I think I've lost an electron." The other says, "Are you sure?" The first replies, "Yes, I'm positive." or how about... A neutron walks into a toy store and grabs a toy. The salesman says to the neutron, "For you no charge." Finding fun and creative ways for students to make connections to the content they are learning is a great resource for retaining information. Meeting the needs of all our students will be challenging, but we just need to focus on inventive ways for them to understand subject matter. Poems, rhyme, song, jokes are great tools.
ReplyDeleteHAHAHA ! I love it. I found myself reading aloud some to my family and we all were cracking up. I couldn’t agree more. Students learn by making connections and being engaged. I think telling a small joke in the beginning of a lesson is a great way to not only introduce a lesson, but engage and gather the attention of students as well. I find incorporating humor to be a fun way for both students and teachers.
