Assessments FOR Learning

Assessment of learning or Assessment for learning

Which phrase are you most comfortable using and why?

By the title you can assume I feel more “comfortable” with the phrase assessment for learning. However, I feel both phrases are equally important for teachers to incorporate throughout instruction. Assessment for learning allows teachers to assess students learning and understanding of important concepts being taught through different assessments, test, exit ticket, etc. Assessment for learning allows the teacher to assess the areas of strength and/or areas that need improvement. Whereas assessment of learning provides the teacher information of students learning and whether they are grasping the concepts or not.
