Farewell Bloggers !

As we have learned throughout this course, reflecting is a crucial component to science and growing as a future educator. Reflecting allows us to think back on experiences and grow from them. This forum allowed us to be creative in our reflections and observe how other *colleagues* were feeling as well.  When going through my fellow classmates blog, it was fun to see the creative personal touches everyone put on their blogs. From Tara C’s catchy titles, the organization and layout of Alyssa’s blog, and Jayson's in depth reflections. I was able to gain a better understanding of chapter reflections in Kendra’s blog and found myself missing pieces that she addressed. I hope I was able to provide some insight and knowledge to others as many of you did for me ! (Click to view some of my commentary on colleagues blog post)

Chapter 5: Strategies and QuickChecks The atmosphere in which a teacher teaches science is a fundamental component to students overall learning.  Your goal should be for students to feel welcomed in a safe space with the available to let their mind wonder. Creating an engaging classroom that allows students to make their own discoveries is when you will see students grow. From discovery centers to a class pet can provide students with a sense of responsibility and direction. You furthermore, want to promote discussion and build vocabulary. Having scientific terms and analogy around the room are greats ways to promote vocabulary and a way for students to become familiar with different  terminology.  Chapter 6: Assessment of Understanding and Inquiry Assessments occur throughout the year. Assessments refer to the wide variety of methods or tools that educators use to evaluate, measure, and document the academic readiness, learning progress, skill acquisition, or educational nee

Chapter 7: Integrating Science and Engineering  Teaching science involves aligning your lessons with next-generation science standards. Science/engineering and language arts can all be incorporated during lessons. You can seek connections with language arts to science lessons. Science/engineering can be incorporated into mathematics. Based on the standards of both math and language arts you can use both in your science lesson and make the lesson even more intriguing.   Science/engineering can also be incorporated into social studies lesson, art and music and health and physical education. Teaching your students that science can be incorporated into all subjects can change their perception of science. Science becomes more interesting when it can be used in many different subjects and lessons.  Chapter 8: Using Technology to Enhance Science Learning Technology is every where today. Rather than viewing technology as a negative, us future teachers should accept and incorpo
